Located at the base of the Rocky Mountains, Denver is
one of America's most beautiful cities. And one of
the most fun. Blessed with 300 days of sunshine a
year, Denver is a lively city with a great love of
the outdoors. Here you'll find the nation's largest
city park system, 90 golf courses and a mountain
panorama visible from Denver is 120 miles long and
includes nearly 200 named peaks. But Denver is also
a cultural and sophisticated city.
Denver has the tenth largest downtown in the U.S. - a bustling
area centered around a mile-long pedestrian promenade that
is lined with outdoor cafes and flower baskets. Downtown
Denver is home to three new sports stadiums, 300 restaurants,
a restored historic district filled with 90 bars and brewpubs,
a collection of museums, renowned cultural attractions, a
myriad of galleries and shopping, the second largest performing
arts center in the nation, three college campuses and even
a unique downtown amusement park.
In 1993 Pope John Paul held the World Youth Day here and
in 1998 President Clinton hosted the "Summit of the
Eight" in Denver. In the last six years, Denver has
been home to All Star Games for Major League Baseball, the
National Hockey League and the National Basketball Association.
We have also recently hosted major industry conventions including
ASAE in 2002 and MPI WEC in 2004. In part to these and other
high profile gatherings, Denver has caught the eye of meeting
and convention planners.
Fun Facts:
- Denver is centrally located; taking the same time to
get to from San Francisco as it does from New York City.
- In 1996, Fortune Magazine called Denver “the
second best city in America to live and work”.
- With the new expansion of the Colorado Convention Center,
Denver can now host 96% of all conventions… and The
Arrangers can handle 100% of your DMC needs.
- Denver has been dubbed "SportsTown USA" as
it is one of only a few cities to offer seven professional
sports
teams.
- In recent years Denver has spent millions of dollars
in adding or renovating our accommodations and upgrading
and
adding local attractions.
- Denver truly is one mile high. The 15th step on the
west side of the State Capitol Building is 5,280 feet
(1,609 m)
above sea level.
